Shape the Future of Cyber Security at plan.com

Cyber security is no longer just about protecting systems—it’s about enabling businesses to innovate, scale and operate with confidence. At plan.com, we’re looking for a Senior SecOps Engineer who wants to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our security capability whilst remaining hands-on with the technologies that keep our business secure.

This is an opportunity to join a growing technology-led organisation where you’ll have genuine influence over security strategy, tooling, processes and architecture. You’ll help define the roadmap for Security Operations, drive improvements across cloud, infrastructure and application security, and ensure cyber security remains embedded throughout the organisation.

You’ll work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and executive leadership, acting as a trusted advisor on cyber risk whilst leading the evolution of a proactive, intelligence-led security function.

The Opportunity

As the senior technical authority for cyber security, you’ll take ownership of our Security Operations capability and help shape its next stage of maturity. You’ll lead threat detection, monitoring and incident response activities across the organisation, proactively hunting for threats, improving detection capabilities and ensuring we remain prepared to respond effectively to emerging cyber risks.

This role goes far beyond traditional Security Operations. You’ll be responsible for developing security strategy, conducting security risk assessments, improving cloud security posture, implementing secure-by-design principles and helping embed security throughout the software development lifecycle.

Working alongside DevOps, Infrastructure and Engineering teams, you’ll drive a DevSecOps approach that ensures security is integrated into CI/CD pipelines, automation processes and cloud environments from the outset rather than added later.

You’ll also play a key role in selecting and implementing new security technologies, developing threat intelligence capabilities, managing vulnerability remediation programmes and advising senior leadership on cyber security risks and priorities.

Technology Environment

You’ll work across a modern and evolving technology estate including:

  • Microsoft 365 Security
  • Azure Security & Cloud Services
  • Microsoft Defender Suite
  • Microsoft Sentinel
  • SIEM, EDR/XDR and DLP Platforms
  • Identity & Privileged Access Management (IAM/PAM)
  • Enterprise Firewall & Security Technologies
  • Windows and Linux Environments
  • Multi-Cloud Infrastructure
  • PowerShell, Python and Bash Automation
  • CI/CD and DevSecOps Tooling

About You

We’re looking for an experienced Security Operations, Security Engineering or Cyber Defence professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

You’ll have a strong track record of threat detection, incident response, threat hunting and security investigations, alongside experience implementing and managing enterprise-grade security tooling. You’ll be comfortable working across cloud platforms, infrastructure, networking and endpoint security, with the ability to identify risks, develop practical solutions and drive security improvements across the organisation.

You should be equally comfortable discussing technical security controls with engineers as you are presenting cyber risk and security recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Experience embedding security into development pipelines, automating security processes and improving cloud security posture will be particularly valuable.

Desirable Experience

We’re interested in candidates who hold recognised cyber security or cloud security certifications such as Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate, Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert, CCSK, CEH or similar.

Experience working within regulated environments and knowledge of frameworks such as ISO27001, PCI-DSS, GDPR and NCSC guidance would also be highly beneficial.

Why plan.com?

This is a rare opportunity to join a business where security is viewed as a strategic business function rather than simply a compliance requirement. You’ll have the autonomy to influence security decisions, shape the future direction of Security Operations and work with modern technologies across cloud, infrastructure and application environments.

If you’re looking for a role where you can make a visible impact, influence cyber security strategy and continue developing your technical expertise, we’d love to hear from you.
